Sadness

There are days that stick with you. There are moments that happen as if they were a hurricane. There are events that sweep away many hopes with a mere breath. There are days when sadness settles inside you and you are afraid that it might stay there forever.

None of us are safe from it. Sooner or later it comes to visit us and, although we understand that it is a necessary emotion, it is never welcome, because it makes the world a little smaller, because it shrinks your heart, because it does not let you breathe. And so, breathless, you try to go on as if nothing, when you know that today you have no strength, because today nothing mitigates the pain.

Sadness seeks solitude and that is the worst remedy, because it swallows you up and you do not see beyond a gray and barren place. Sadness may seek solitude, but what it needs is company, to share the sorrow, to divide it, to share the burden it entails. And in the end it will all pass. The sun will rise again announcing a new day, erasing with its rays the bitterness of the previous one or, at least, mitigating it. It will caress your skin with its warmth and remind you that you are here, that you are still alive and that you cannot give up.

To do so would be unfair to those who are no longer with us.

WE WILL MISS YOU, ANYI. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH.
